1. The most famous lemur of them all. The Ring Tailed Lemurs are one of twenty two species of lemurs and are the only Lemur that has a ring tail. These lemurs carry many unique characteristics to them. Such as how lemurs like to sunbathe. They go in a group and find open areas of the forest and sit in a yoga position facing the sun (shown left). They do this to warm up before they forage at night because that's when the temperature gets cold. Fyi: The word Lemur comes from old Latin, and refers to ghosts or spirits. Early observers thought of lemurs as this because of their glaring eyes, haunting sounds, and stillness ways of them.
